In celebration of the renewed life of the season and throwing caution
Brewed at Brasserir Dupont in the French-speaking region of Belgium known as Wallonia, this brew combines the best of its bloodlines. It has a dry almost champagne-like finish and bubbling, but also has the big body and complexity that one would expect from a Belgian-beer. Saison (literally translating from French
(Brasserie Dupont is still a working farm) and the graininess and balanced note of citrus fruits reminds one of an al fresco dinner on the family farm and hours spent wasting time with loved ones on the veranda as the sun fades into a blissfully cool evening (if you happen to have such memories).
I chose the saison from Brasserie Dupont with no prior knowledge of the brewery or beer. I simply liked the yellow-checkered label, the slim neck, and the name (I live a s

I decline to comment any further on this marvelous drink. I advise you to go out find a pack for yourself, grab a friend or a good book and sit outside in the sun while you experience what is sure to become one of your new favorites.

ReplyDeleteOK I have to get this. This is the third review I've read about this beer that has been very positive. I'm thinking it would make a nice summer beer too!
ReplyDeleteI think I "duponted" myself out this week, but I'm looking forward to trying more Saisons. Ommegang hennepin, which I tried a few sips of last weekend seems very* promising.
ReplyDeleteIt is an excellently crafted brew.
ReplyDeleteFirst, after reading your review, I need to go take a cold shower.
ReplyDeleteI've recently discovered the Saison myself. I've found it to be hit or miss as to whether I like it. If it is on the more "Belgian" side, I love it for its differences and slightly sour twist.
If it's more on the farmhouse side, I haven't quite acquired a taste for horse blanket. That will take some time.
Also, if you're a homebrewer, one of the recipe options for Big Brew Day (May 2) is a Saison:

Love the style, love the beer, well I just love beer. Every week I do a podcast, The Beer Brawl, last night we did Saison style. A victory Saison, South Hampton Saison and Saison Dupont. Saison upont was by far the best of the bunch, as it should be since they have been brewing it for over 150 years....
